Our Story
Scott moved to Winnipeg from Vancouver in 2011 as an experienced realtor and started a practice as a solo agent.
Being new to the province and having had three babies in less than four years, he was motivated to succeed!
Scott was laser focused on building his business and it worked. Transactions doubled, then doubled again. Income increased and so did expenses. He added an admin. He began earning awards.
There simply weren’t enough hours in the day to complete everything that needed to be done.
Scott had worked too hard to build this business to not capitalize on the results of his efforts but it was simply more than one person could do. Something needed to change.
Scott's wife Julia was a lifelong entrepreneur on maternity leave at the time. It was easier to hire childcare than to hire the type of talented help it would take to get the business to the next level, so Julia joined in.
Scott & Julia began to build a business model for a real estate team. We researched models and considered them all. We met with other team leaders, locally and in the USA. We learned a lot about how and why teams and partnerships break down. This process took months.
We realized that crystal clear expectations for all parties was going to be the key to a successful partnership and preventing conflict. We decided that a good contract would be the backbone of that relationship.
We drafted our model into a contract and sent it to a corporate lawyer. Then came revisions, questions, more revisions, another draft. Eventually the lawyer was happy, and we were happy
We spent the time, we put in the effort, and we got it right.
In the Fall of 2015, we started to advertise for team mates, and The Moore Group was born. Our first team member joined us in December of 2015 and she was the perfect choice.
She had the skills and the intelligence to be a great salesperson, and with the infrastructure of the team providing leads and administrative support, she increased her income five-fold in her first 12 months with us.
We've produced these same huge successes over and over. For the last three consecutive years, our top three realtors have earned an average of 2.5 times the earnings of the average realtor in Manitoba. Based on gross commissions, we have been the #1 RE/MAX Team in Manitoba for the last five consecutive years (2019-23), and we ended 2023 as the #18 RE/MAX Team in Western Canada.
Over the years, we've seen it all. Huge successes, terrible flops, ego problems that we should have avoided, and burnout we wish we would have prevented. We've had amicable terminations and terminations that have led to lawsuits.
We have truly seen it all.
